Thermal Management for Onboard Computer Vision
Used GPU-accelerated CFD to disprove the suspected cause of vision-compute thermal throttling.
The autonomous boat’s vision compute was thermally throttling — measurable latency and slower YOLO inference at higher ambient temps.
I built a GPU-accelerated CFD model with an actuated-disk fan representation to test whether the fan shroud was the bottleneck. It wasn’t: the shroud barely affected pressure drop or airflow, redirecting the fix toward higher-capacity cooling. A clean example of simulation killing a wrong hypothesis fast.
